2008 Yeh Bros Cup General Information

1.Date：Feb. 13 (Wednesday) till Feb. 17 (Sunday) , 2008

2.Venue：Kaohsiung Howard Plaza Hotel , Kaohsiung, Taiwan

3.Participating Teams：24 teams in total. The following teams will be invited.

Top 3 teams in 2007 Bermuda Bowl

Top 3 teams in 2006 European Championships, Open series

3 teams from Zone 2 (Two USA and one Canada)

Top 3 teams in 2007 PABF Championships, Open series

One each team from Zone 3, Zone 4 and Zone 8

1 team from Taiwan

Other teams invited by Mr. Yeh

4.Prizes：

Exceeding US$158,100 in total

5.Subsidies：Only the top 3 teams at the 2007 Bermuda Bowl, with at least 4

of the original team members, are entitled to the following subsidies.

6.Entry Frees：

Yeh’s Cup -  US$500/team

Swiss Plate – Free of charge for non-qualifiers from main event ;

           US$500 for new comer

Open Pairs – US$500 to be paid in 3 phases

       (US$100 for qualifying, US$200 each for semi-final and final)

7.Tournament Schedule ：

Yeh’s Cup：

Qualifying：10 Swiss matches of 10 boards each. 5-match/day played

           from 9:30-18:30 on Feb. 13 and Feb. 14.

           The top 8 teams(including Yeh’s team) will advance to

           the double knock-out(bracket A) group.

           The 9-16 teams will advance to the single knock-out

           (bracket B) group.

Knock-out：Four matches of 32 boards each to be played over two

                days, Feb. 15-16, from 9:30-20:20 each day. 

Finals   ： 48 boards on Feb. 17 over 2 segments of 24 boards each  

              including.

           Final – for the championships. The undefeated team has

                 a 6.5 imps carry-over.

           Play-of – for 3 rd place, no carry-over.

Swiss Plate：7 round of 10-boards swiss matches to be played from

           9:30 Feb. 15 till 12:25 Feb. 16. Non-qualifiers for the

           knock-out phase may join at no charge.

           Losers from the first two knock-out matches may join later

           with a pre-determined carry-over.

Open Pairs： Total 50 pairs with 2 pairs reserved for each competing  

Qualifying： Feb. 16, 14:00-18:25, 24-26 boards    

           Five sections of 5 table each, across-the –field scoring 

           Top 6 pairs in each section, total 30 pairs advance to 

           Semi-final

           The 20 non-qualifiers can play Consolation A free of 

           Charge (Feb. 17 morning )

Semi-Final：Feb. 17, 9:00-13:25, 27 boards (3 boards x 9 rounds)

           Three sections of 5 tables each, across-the-field scoring

           Top three pairs from each section together with the host

           pair (Mr.Yeh and his partner) for a total of 10 pairs will

           advance to the final. Non-qualifiers from semi-final can 

           play the Consolation B free of charge (Feb. 17 afternoon)

Final    ： Feb. 17, 14:30- 18:55, 27 boards  (3 board x 9 rounds)

          5 tables.

Consolation A  Feb. 17,  9:00-13:25, 10 talbes. 27 boards

Consolation B  Feb. 17, 14:30-18:55, 11 talbes. 27 boards

 ** Semi-final and final will use Barometer IMP scoring**
